Beautiful Robed Victorian Christening Gown,

A  simply gorgeous bright white Victorian christening robe,This was one of the gorgeous textiles that came from a lovely lady from Oxfordshire,This gown had been in her family for generations. The first baby to use this was named Silena she was born in 1829 went on to have nine children and she lived until 1913.I have a linen shawl or wipe with the tiniest embroidery of the name Silena in one corner,The condition of the gown is superb and bright white,Embroidery is beautifully done Ayrshire infils on the edge of the cuffs and robing,The yoke is heavily embroidered with lots of feather stitching, there are three rows of pintucks which run around the bottom of the gown,The sleeves at the cuff are doubled with an underlay  with a frill over this,The front of the gown is decorated the same as the yoke the back is plain and ties with two fine tapes. This will fit a baby from 0 to 6 months the measurements are as follows. The length from the top of shoulder to hem edge is 42" the measurement across the yoke where the dress ties is 9.5" this will draw in smaller,The sleeve length from under arm is 5.5" I noticed a very small tear at the front of the dress on the hem edge on the frill this is about an inch,
